Public holiday declared for Dec 1 as EC prepares for by-elections
Voting will begin at 7:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM, according to the EC’s announcement.
KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has instructed relevant authorities to allocate polling venues for the upcoming local level by-elections scheduled for Dec 1.
The EC has requested that these designated polling spaces be made available for use from Nov 28 until the conclusion of voting on Dec 1.
Voting will begin at 7:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM, according to the EC’s announcement.
In coordination with the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, the EC has directed local governments to arrange for the use of community schools, private schools, ward offices, health posts, community buildings, industrial sites, and public spaces as polling venues.
Additionally, the EC has urged local governments to declare December 1 as a public holiday in the affected areas.
The commission also emphasized the importance of creating a supportive environment to ensure the by-election is conducted in a fair, transparent, and cost-effective manner, as stated by EC spokesperson Nota Pokharel Aryal.
