Foreign Minister Rana’s visit to Japan postponed, set to visit China
Minister Rana’s visit aims to facilitate preparations for the PM’s four-day official trip, focusing on advancing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) projects.
KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Raju Rana is set to visit China on Nov 28, five days ahead of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s scheduled visit on Dec 2.
Minister Rana’s visit aims to facilitate preparations for the PM’s four-day official trip, focusing on advancing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) projects.
The visit is deemed significant amid ongoing differences between the ruling UML and the opposition Congress regarding BRI agreements.
Initially, Minister Rana had planned to visit Japan for a medical checkup. However, due to scheduling issues with her doctors, she decided to prioritize the China visit instead. “She was preparing to go to Japan for health reasons,” her press coordinator, Ekaraj Pathak, stated, “but due to unavailability of the doctors, she opted for the China trip.”
