KATHMANDU: The trophy of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) has been officially unveiled.

In a ceremony held at the Dharahara premises this morning, the unveiling was done by the marquee players of all eight teams in the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Addressing the event, Prime Minister Oli admitted that the government has not been able to support the sports sector as much as it should. “The government has not provided the required encouragement to the sports sector, and I am not satisfied with that,” he said. “We haven’t been able to provide enough support.”

The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of the day for Nepali cricket. “Today is a special day in the history of Nepali cricket.

The grand and enthusiastic celebration of the NPL inspires our players and sets a benchmark for future generations,” he remarked. “Not only cricket fans across the globe but also the current generation takes pride in the hard work and achievements of Nepali cricketers.”

The unveiling ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Sports Minister Tejulal Chaudhary, National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Tankalal Ghising, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) President Chatur Bahadur Chand, and Secretary Paras Khadka.

The inaugural edition of the Nepal Premier League is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu from Nov 30 to Dec 21.
