KATHMANDU: The much-anticipated Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2024-25 season is set to commence with the Surya Nepal Central Open, teeing off tomorrow at the scenic Gokarna Golf Club.

The season opener promises thrilling competition among Nepal’s top professional and amateur golfers.

This prestigious event will be played over 72 holes, with a cut applied after the first two rounds (36 holes).

The top 21 professionals and ties will progress to the final 36 holes, joined by the top six amateurs and any amateurs surviving the pro cut. The tournament offers a total prize purse of Rs 882,000, with the champion set to take home Rs 150,000.

The runner-up will pocket Rs 100,000 and the third-place finisher will earn NPR 75,000. Prize money will be distributed among the top 21 professionals and ties.

A total of 33 professionals will compete alongside seven elite amateurs with handicaps of 3 or lower. Defending champion amateur Sadbhav Acharya, along with seasoned professionals like Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Niraj Tamang, Dhana Thapa, Sanjay Lama, Rabi Khadka, Toran Shahi, and Kumar Kami, are expected to be key contenders in this highly competitive field.
