Dharahara entry fee: Discounts for students, seniors, and disabled
Nepali citizens will be charged Rs 200 per person to climb the tower.
KATHMANDU: The iconic Dharahara Tower in Sundhara, Kathmandu, has officially opened for commercial visits.
While it was free for visitors during the trial period, entry fees have been introduced starting today.
Initially opened free of charge for testing, the decision to charge entry fees was approved during a Cabinet meeting held on Thursday.
Government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung stated that the structure will be managed and operated under the guidelines of the Special Infrastructure Operation and Management Development Committee (Formation) Order 2081, with entry fees set as per the proposed schedule.
Nepali citizens will be charged Rs 200 per person to climb the tower.
However, students, senior citizens, children, and individuals with disabilities will receive a 50% discount on the entry fee.
For tourists from SAARC countries, the entry fee is Rs 500, while visitors from non-SAARC nations will pay Rs 1,000.
The Ministry of Urban Development submitted this fee proposal during the Cabinet meeting, and it was subsequently approved.
With this decision, visitors to Dharahara Tower will now be required to pay the specified charges for entry.
