‘Tel Visa’ & ‘Agnidahan’ Hit theaters today
KATHMANDU: From today, Friday, two new Nepali movies, Tel Visa and Agnidahan, have been released in cinemas across the country.
Tel Visa: A Tale of Legal Struggles Abroad
Tel Visa, starring Bipin Karki and Barsha Raut in lead roles, is presented by Richa Ghimire and directed by Shankar Ghimire. The film portrays the emotional journey of a grandmother who faces legal complications after traveling to the U.S. to care for her daughter-in-law. The movie delves into the heartfelt diaspora experience.
Bipin Karki plays a dual role as both father and son in the movie. The cast also includes Pooja Chand, Richa Ghimire, Buddhi Tamang, Francis Sherman, Jack Bell, Suchitra Upreti, and Anil Pandey.
Produced by Anil Pandey and Shivraj Karki, the movie was filmed in Nepal and Maryland, U.S.A. The story and screenplay are written by Shankar Ghimire.
Agnidahan: A Cinematic Fight Against Superstition
Simultaneously released, Agnidahan addresses the social issue of witchcraft practices in Nepal. Directed by Ghanshyam Lamichhane, the film features a strong ensemble cast, including Prakash Ghimire, Pramila Tulachan, Mao Tse Gurung, Anupama Bhandari, Tulasi Kshetri, Bishnu Bastola, and Tara Bahadur Gurung.
With a concept by Kovidsharan Upadhyay, the movie’s story, screenplay, and dialogues are crafted by Lokmani Paudel.
Interestingly, the film has already been watched by notable figures such as former President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda.’
