KATHMANDU: Kathmandu is set to witness three separate protests today. Demonstrations by cooperative victims at Maitighar have been ongoing for several days.
Additionally, two new protests are scheduled for Friday, organized by the CPN-UML and medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai’s group.
The CPN-UML will hold an awareness rally starting from Bhadrakali, passing through Sundhara, Bir Hospital, Ratnapark, and Ghantaghar, before concluding at Durbar Marg. Meanwhile, Durga Prasai’s group will stage their protest in Koteshwar.
In light of these events, Kathmandu’s Chief District Officer, Jayanarayan Acharya, announced heightened security measures.
Over 5,000 police personnel will be deployed, including more than 500 traffic police, to ensure public safety and smooth traffic management. “We are committed to ensuring the safety and ease of movement for citizens. Additional police and traffic personnel have been mobilized for this purpose,” Acharya said.
Both Nepal Police and Armed Police Force will be engaged in maintaining security, with continuous patrolling across the city to prevent any untoward incidents.
Acharya added that the protest locations were strategically distanced to minimize disruptions and maintain order.
