KATHMANDU: Three different groups are set to hold protests simultaneously in various parts of Kathmandu today. In response, the District Administration Office (DAO) has devised a security plan to manage the demonstrations.

The ruling CPN-UML is organizing a “Awareness Rally,” which will culminate in a demonstration at Durbar Marg.

The party has received official permission for the rally and aims to mobilize around 100,000 participants.

According to UML leader Bishnu Rijal, the rally will start at 11 a.m. from multiple locations across Kathmandu and converge at Durbar Marg.

Similarly, supporters of medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai are holding a separate demonstration.

Despite Prasai’s detention in a cybercrime case, his scheduled protest will proceed as planned. DAO has granted permission for this event at Koteshwar.

Meanwhile, another protest is expected at Maitighar, where cooperative victims have been demanding the return of their savings.

The area has seen regular demonstrations for this cause.

Chief District Officer Jayanarayan Acharya stated that security measures have been designed to ensure public safety and minimize disruption.

“There will be traffic congestion, but we’ve planned to keep the impact manageable,” he said.

Commuters are advised to expect heavy traffic in protest-affected areas.
