KATHMANDU: A fire broke out in a two-story house near CCR College in Balkumari, Lalitpur, causing extensive damage to a pharmacy, a Zumba dance center, and several shops.

The fire, reportedly caused by an electrical short circuit, engulfed the property of Swabhiman Shrestha.

According to Lalitpur police, the first floor of the house, which housed “Dagera Pharmacy” operated by Bhojraj Bhatta, was completely destroyed.

Additionally, a nearby pan shop, a momo shop, and a Zumba dance center were also burnt to ashes.

The exact extent of the damage is yet to be assessed.

The fire was brought under control after an hour with the help of five fire engines—three from Kathmandu and two from Lalitpur—alongside a team of police officers.
