KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has granted police permission to keep businessman Durga Prasai in custody for five days for investigation.

The decision was made by the bench of District Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari, allowing police to proceed with their inquiry.

Prasai was arrested on Tuesday from his residence in Bhaktapur by a team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).

The arrest came after allegations that Prasai had disseminated misleading information against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Due to time constraints, he was presented in court today, Wednesday, despite being taken into custody the previous day.

Police plan to investigate Prasai on charges including cybercrime.

He is accused of creating a fake video alleging that Prime Minister Oli invested $200 million in Cambodia.
