Former DIG Chhabilal Joshi brought to Kathmandu for statement, Rabi Lamichhane next
Joshi was flown to Kathmandu on Tuesday evening, according to SSP Basant Rajore of the Kathmandu Police Complex.
KATHMANDU: Former DIG and ex-director of Gorkha Media, Chhabilal Joshi, who has been detained in Kaski Police custody for embezzlement of cooperative funds, has been brought to Kathmandu.
Following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Kathmandu District Court, Joshi was flown to Kathmandu on Tuesday evening, according to SSP Basant Rajore of the Kathmandu Police Complex.
Joshi has been placed under custody at the complex, and necessary investigations will commence today, SSP Rajore informed.
Joshi was initially arrested on Sept 22 in connection with the misappropriation of savings at the Surya Darshan Cooperative in Pokhara.
Meanwhile, after a warrant was issued for his involvement in embezzling savings at the Rupandehi-based Supreme Cooperative, Joshi was taken there for questioning.
Soon after, the Kathmandu District Court issued an arrest warrant for Joshi in connection with the misappropriation at the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative in Kathmandu. A similar warrant was also issued for Rabi Lamichhane, the leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
Following Joshi’s statement, preparations are underway to bring Lamichhane to Kathmandu. Earlier, Kumar Ramtel was also questioned and sent back to Kaski.
