Court postpones hearing on UML’s land donation dispute
The hearing had also been postponed on Sunday.
KATHMANDU: The hearing of a petition filed over the controversy surrounding the land donation received by the UML from businessman Min Bahadur Gurung has been postponed due to the unavailability of the judges.
The petition was scheduled to be heard by a bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Abdul Aziz Muslim, but the case could not be heard.
The hearing had also been postponed on Sunday.
The petition, filed by advocate Gyan Bahadur Basnet, had led to the Supreme Court issuing an interim order preventing any transfer or actions related to the land donation.
Earlier, Gurung had announced the donation of 10 ropanis and 14 annas of land in Kirtipur Municipality-2, Maitrinagar, Kathmandu, for the construction of the UML central office.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the office had already been performed by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the Gurung couple.
With the court’s order, construction of the UML party office has been temporarily halted.
