Chitwan Rhinos jersey, anthem and mascot reveal

KATHMANDU: Chitwan Rhinos, a franchise in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), revealed its new jersey during an event held on Monday evening.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Bharatpur Metropolitan City Mayor Renu Dahal, Chitwan Medical College Managing Director Prof. Dr. Harish Chandra Neupane, Chitwan Rhinos Club Chair Ayush Neupane, head coach Umesh Patyal, and marquee player Kushal Malla, who collectively launched the jersey.

The event featured a mascot of the one-horned rhino, traditional Panche Baja music, and players modeling the new jersey.

Additionally, the team’s theme song was also launched at the ceremony.

Mayor Dahal emphasized the city’s commitment to promoting sports and supporting athletes. “We are accelerating the construction of Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium. Once completed, it will significantly contribute to producing skilled players,” she said.

Chitwan Rhinos’ marquee player Kushal Malla expressed confidence in the team’s morale and their goal to win the league.

Club President Ayush Neupane echoed this optimism, highlighting the inclusion of talented players in the squad.

The Rhinos’ roster includes local stars such as Kushal Malla, Amar Singh Routela, Bipin Rawal, Deepak Bohara, Dipesh Shrestha, Gautam KC, Kamal Singh Airee, Ranjit Kumar, Rejan Dhakal, Santosh Karki, and Sharad Vesawkar. Foreign players Ravi Bopara, Marcady Langa, Luke Martin Benkenstein, Hassan Isaakhel, and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton have also joined the team.

As a nostalgic gesture, the Chitwan Rhino Cricket Club, established in 1994, presented the franchise with jerseys for its former captain Manish Sapkota and other players, along with an old bat previously used by the club.

Jersey Details: Representing the color (light grey) of One-Horned Rhinos. Signifying Rhinos’ strength, speed, fast, peace-loving and nature friendly.

It also signifies the conservation of one-horned rhinos. Orange color signifies the vibrant sunset and sunrise that we can witness from Chitwan and the color of tigers of Chitwan. And finally, the black color represents the blend for colors.

Mascot Details: One of a kind, the revolutionary representation of mascots in Nepali sports diaspora. Named as Mr Gaida, the mascot will don the no. 56 during the Nepal Premier League.

The no. 56, which is a phone code of Chitwan, signifies the Chitwan identity enriched with unity.

Anthem Details: A goosebumps inducing song covering the essence of the Chitwan’s identity, community and thrills of a sports team ushering a new era in Nepal cricket.
