Hearing scheduled on UML land donation dispute

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing on the writ petition filed regarding the land donation controversy involving businessman Min Bahadur Gurung and the CPN-UML.
The hearing will take place in a joint bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Abdul Aziz Musalman.
Earlier, on Sunday, the case was listed before a full bench led by Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut but was postponed due to time constraints
. Subsequently, a new bench was assigned for the hearing on Tuesday after advocate Gyan Bahadur Basnet filed the petition.
Previously, the Supreme Court had issued a short-term interim order, prohibiting the UML from transferring ownership or carrying out further actions regarding the donated land.
On Oct 11, Min Bahadur Gurung announced the donation of 10 ropanis and 14 annas of land in Maitrinagar, Kirtipur Municipality-2, Kathmandu, for the construction of the UML central office.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, along with his spouse and the Gurung couple, jointly laid the foundation stone for the UML headquarters building.
However, following the court’s order, the construction of the UML party office has been temporarily halted.
