Man arrested with 17 quintals of cannabis in Saptari
The tipper and its driver were arrested on Monday night.
KATHMANDU: A person has been arrested with 17 quintals and 36 kilograms of cannabis from Rajgad Rural Municipality-4 in Saptari.
The cannabis, hidden under sand and gravel, was being transported in a tipper truck from Patthargadh to Jhutikit, located at the internal road section near the Belhi Chapena Shani Mandir in Rajgad.
The tipper and its driver were arrested on Monday night.
According to the Kalyanpur Area Police Office, 56 sacks of cannabis were found during an inspection of the tipper.
The driver, 33-year-old Yamjit Rai from Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality-3 in Dhankuta, has been taken into custody.
He will be presented in court today, and the police will seek permission from the court to continue the investigation while keeping him in custody.
