Taragaon Regency honored as top taxpayer in tourism sector (photos)

KATHMANDU: Taragaon Regency Hotels Limited, managed under the international Hyatt chain, has been recognized as the highest taxpayer in Nepal’s tourism sector for the fiscal year 2079/80.
The hotel, located in Bouddha, Kathmandu, is Nepal’s largest, with 303 rooms. The Inland Revenue Department awarded the hotel for its exemplary tax contributions.
The hotel has previously received multiple accolades for being the top taxpayer in the tourism sector, showcasing its consistent contribution to the national economy.
Built under the Taragaon Cultural Center concept, the hotel reflects Nepalese art and design.
Corporate Chair Rani Byang stated that the hotel has been making significant contributions to Nepal’s tourism sector for over two decades by attracting high-end tourists and directly employing around 325 individuals.
The hotel’s construction was envisioned before Nepal’s decade-long conflict and began during the pre-conflict period.
Despite launching operations in 2000 amidst political and economic turmoil, the hotel initially faced losses but turned profitable shortly after peace was established in the country.
Previously, the hotel was honored as the top taxpayer in the tourism sector for fiscal years 2071/72, 2073/74, 2074/75, 2075/76, and 2076/77.
Additionally, in 2076 BS, the government recognized it for being the highest earner of foreign exchange in the tourism sector.
