Kathmandu Gurkhas appoint Indu Barma as brand ambassador

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Gurkhas, the franchise team of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), has announced Nepal women’s cricket team captain Indu Barma as their new brand ambassador.
The announcement was made during a grand ceremony held in Kathmandu on Sunday.
On the same occasion, the team also revealed their new jersey, which was showcased by marquee player Karan KC.
The team presented a display reflecting Kathmandu’s culture and identity, featuring traditional Newar dances and the Lakhe dance.
The players included in the auction were also introduced on stage, sending a message about Kathmandu Gurkhas’ special preparations for the upcoming tournament.
Additionally, Kathmandu Gurkhas unveiled BVD as their main sponsor during the event.
The ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including team president Upendra Mahato, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) secretary Paras Khadka, team owner Shrinika Khatiwada, and Kantipur Media Group chairman Kailash Sirohiya.
The team’s head coach is Basant Shahi Thakuri, who is also an assistant coach for the Nepal national cricket team.
Kathmandu Gurkhas’ squad includes players such as Shahav Alam, Bhim Sarki, Rashid Khan, Shankar Rana, Krishna Karki, Dipesh Kadel, Sumit Maharjan, Raju Rijal, Vivek KC, and Pratik Shrestha.
The team has also signed international players, including Michael Levitt from the Netherlands, Namibia’s captain Gerard Erasmus, and England’s cricket duo Stephen Eskinazi and Dan Douthwaite.
