KATHMANDU: At least 20 people have been killed in a recent Israeli airstrike in Gaza.

The Gaza Civil Defense agency reported on Sunday that the Israeli airstrikes resulted in the deaths of four women and three children.

The attack on the Burayj refugee camp in central Gaza killed 10 people, according to Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal.

In another strike on a house in the camp, at least one woman was killed, and 10 others were injured.

In the southern city of Rafah, an Israeli drone attack on Sunday morning killed at least five people, with 11 others injured, Bassal added.

Another overnight attack in the western part of the Nusirat camp in central Gaza resulted in the deaths of three women and one child, among others.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that the death toll from the war, which has been ongoing for over 13 months, has reached 43,799.

The majority of the fatalities are civilians, according to ministry statistics, which have been deemed reliable by the United Nations.

Israeli figures, shared with AFP, indicate that 1,206 people died in the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas.
