By-election buzz in Kirtipur as candidate registrations continue (photos)

KATHMANDU: Candidacies have been filed in Kirtipur Municipality for the local by-elections scheduled for Mangsir 16 (Dec 1).

Nominations were submitted on Sunday for the positions of Mayor of Kirtipur Metropolitan City and Chairperson of Ward No. 4.

Various political parties, including CPN-UML, Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), have registered their candidates.

Dr. Surendra Manandhar is the mayoral candidate from UML, while Dhurva Maharjan is contesting from RPP.

Deepak Maharjan, a transgender candidate, has filed his nomination for mayor on behalf of JSP Nepal.

Additional candidates are still in the process of registering their nominations.
