ISLAMABAD: Pakistani military claimed on Saturday night to have repulsed a terrorist attack at a security check post resulting in the death of six terrorists in Kalat district of Pakistan’s southwest Balochistan province.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan army, said in a statement that a group of terrorists attempted to attack a security forces’ post in the Shah-e-Mardan area of Kalat on Friday night.

Following the attack, an intense exchange of fire began, resulting in the killing of six terrorists, said the ISPR, adding that four other terrorists were injured.

The military added that seven soldiers were also killed while fighting against the terrorists.

It said that the forces had launched a clearance operation to eliminate any terrorists found in the area.

“Security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan, and such sacrifices of our soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” added the military.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack, saying that immediate action will be taken against the perpetrators.
