KATHMANDU: Nepal secured a 2-0 victory against Afghanistan in an international friendly match held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, but Nepal took the lead early in the second half through a goal by forward Gillespye Jung Karki.

In the 78th minute, Rohit Chand doubled Nepal’s advantage with his maiden goal for the national team.

Captain Kiran Chemjong ensured the clean sheet with a crucial save in the 87th minute, maintaining Nepal’s 2-0 lead until the final whistle.

Earlier, Nepal had suffered a 4-0 defeat against the host team, Tajikistan.

The team will now focus on preparations for the third round of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers in March 2025.
