KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife, Arzu Rana Deuba, popularly known as “Dehijat,” participated in the Ugratara Fair held in Dadeldhura.
The annual event, which began on Friday evening, concluded on Saturday evening.
Following the ritual offering at the Ugratara Temple, former Prime Minister Deuba pledged to work on developing physical infrastructure for the local Ved Vidyashram.
The fair takes place every year on the night of Kartik Shukla Purnima and the following day of Pratipada.
The nighttime fair is known as Ratedi, while the fair on Pratipada is called Diusedi.
The Ugratara Bhagwati Temple, located in a region comprising the villages of Khanmada, Chhachoda, Dumda, and Jiloda, witnessed the traditional arrival of Deuro (processions) in the morning, marking the transition from Ratedi to Diusedi.
Tej Bahadur Sanki, Chairman of the Ugratara Area Development Committee, reported that devotees from Sudurpashchim, Karnali State, and neighboring India attended the fair.
Local belief holds that worshiping at Ugratara Temple protects against calamities, brings peace, and fulfills desires.
