Former mayor of Karsanha & 4 others found guilty in corruption case

KATHMANDU: Former Mayor of Karsanha Municipality in Siraha, along with four others, has been found guilty in a corruption case.

The Special Court on Wednesday convicted the five individuals in a case filed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

The convicted individuals include former Mayor Ganga Pasman, Chief Administrative Officer Jagdish Mandal, Acting Chief Administrative Officer Buddhiman Danuwar, Accountant Praveen Kumar Mahato, and construction businessman Baijnath Yadav, according to court spokesperson Gehendraraj Regmi.

After hearings on Tuesday and Wednesday, the court bench, consisting of Khushiprasad Tharu, Rambahadur Thapa, and Muraribabu Shrestha, delivered the verdict.

The sentencing for the convicted individuals will be decided on Nov 25.

The case pertains to irregularities in a contract for the construction of an administrative building in the fiscal year 078/079.

The CIAA had filed the case in the Special Court on March 27, alleging corruption in the tender process.
