Dengue kills 8 lives in Gandaki State
According to Sharma, dengue was confirmed in 8,858 persons in Pokhara Metropolitan City, the state capital, alone.
KATHMANDU: Dengue has been confirmed in 18,339 individuals in Gandaki State over the past 10 months, resulting in eight deaths, according to the statel Ministry of Health.
The first death from dengue was a 48-year-old man from Tanahun on July 25, 2024.
Since then, additional fatalities include a 40-year-old man on Aug 6, a 52-year-old woman on August 15 in Kaski, and a 61-year-old man in Myagdi on September 4.
Four women, aged 81, 70, 75, and 26, also died from dengue in Kaski on Sept 6, Sept 18, Sept 30, and Oct 20, respectively.
The highest number of dengue cases—8,979—were reported in Kaski, while the lowest—six cases—occurred in Manang district during this period, according to Prashanta Raj Sharma, the Information Officer at the Ministry.
Sharma noted that 8,858 cases of dengue were confirmed in Pokhara Metropolitan City alone, the state capital.
He added that the disease has not affected 12 local levels in the province.
Dengue was reported in 70 people in the state last January, with 6,267 cases confirmed by September.
In Oct, there were 6,044 cases, and since the start of November, there have been 947 additional cases.
