SCT & Khalti partner to launch Smart QR Payment service in Nepal

KATHMANDU: SmartChoice Technologies Limited (SCT), a licensed payment system operator by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), and Khalti Digital Wallet, a payment service provider, have signed an agreement to launch a Smart QR payment service.

Following this partnership, Khalti users will be able to make payments to merchants through Smart QR.

Additionally, businesses can receive payments via Smart QR, which adheres to international standards like EMV and follows Nepal’s QR standard.

The Smart QR is the first interoperable QR code in Nepal.

The agreement was signed by Manoj Ghimire, CEO of SCT, and Binay Khadka, CEO of Khalti, during a ceremony held at Khalti’s office.

With Smart QR, merchant payments will be credited instantly, making transactions more convenient for both Khalti users and merchants.
