Darchula jeep accident update: Injured airlifted to Dhangadhi
They have been admitted to Seti State Hospital, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Dahal.
KATHMANDU: Three people injured in a jeep accident in Darchula have been taken to Dhangadhi, Kailali, for treatment in a Nepali Army helicopter.
The rescued individuals include jeep driver Sunil Joshi from Malikarjun Rural Municipality-8, Sandeep Rawal from Shailyashikhar-5, and Uttam Rokaya from Dilasaini Rural Municipality-5 in Baitadi.
They have been admitted to Seti State Hospital, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Dahal.
The accident occurred this morning in Bagjebala, Ward No. 6 of Shailyashikhar Municipality, involving a jeep with license plate M1J 338. The vehicle was carrying pilgrims who were returning from a local festival at Malikarjun Temple. Unfortunately, eight passengers died in the crash.
The deceased include Birendra Rawal, 30, and his wife Shanti Rawal, 28, both from Lekgau, Ward No. 5, Shailyashikhar Municipality.
Other victims were Dilip Bista, 45, from Naktad-9, Shailyashikhar; Sanjiv Bohara, 15, from Dilashaini-5, Baitadi; Mohammad Safir, 45, and Mohammad Basim, 18, from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, India; Mina Lekhak, 35, from Gokule, Ward No. 9, Shailyashikhar; and Birendra Singh Bohara from Dilasaini-5.
Dilip Bista was a teacher at Gokuleshwar Multiple Campus, and Mina Lekhak served as the campus accountant.
The couple Birendra and Shanti were also among the deceased; Birendra worked as a land surveyor in Shailyashikhar Municipality.
Other injured passengers are being treated at the Primary Health Center in Gokuleshwar.
