President Paudel leaves for Kathmandu from Doha

KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel departed from Doha, Qatar, for Kathmandu today.
He was bid farewell at Hamad International Airport by Kumar Rai, the Chargé d’Affaires at the Nepali Embassy in Doha, along with other embassy staff and protocol officers from the Qatari government.
President Paudel had arrived in Doha on Thursday evening while returning from Baku, Azerbaijan, where he attended the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The conference, which began on November 11, was hosted by Azerbaijan in the city of Baku.
President Paudel’s participation in COP29 came at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
During the ‘World Leaders Climate Action Summit’ on Tuesday, he highlighted the need for global efforts to protect mountain ecosystems, emphasizing their role in safeguarding the planet.
Accompanying President Paudel were First Lady Sabita Paudel, Minister for Forest and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, and several advisors and high-ranking government officials.
