6 killed, 7 injured as jeep carrying festival-goers crashes in Darchula

KATHMANDU: A jeep carrying devotees returning from the Malikarjun Festival met with a tragic accident in Darchula, resulting in the deaths of six individuals and injuries to seven others.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Dahal, head of the Darchula District Police Office, the jeep with license plate M 1 Ja 338 crashed at around 4 a.m. on Friday at Bakjebala in Shailyashikhar Municipality-6.

The accident occurred as devotees were returning from the local Malikarjun Temple festival.

While the identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed, police have begun rescue efforts and are investigating the cause of the accident.
