UML to protest against anarchy on Nov 20
UML intends to address rising lawlessness and promote social harmony and national unity.
KATHMANDU: The CPN (UML) is preparing for a major power show on December 7, aiming to demonstrate strength and rally support in the Kathmandu Valley.
As a key government party, UML intends to address rising lawlessness and promote social harmony and national unity, aiming to reassure the public with a message of political stability.
The event, titled the “Awakening Assembly,” is expected to take streets around 100,000 leaders and activists to rally against increasing disorder in society.
Scheduled to take place at Bhrikutimandap, the assembly will feature speeches from party chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, along with General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel.
To ensure the event’s success, UML has mobilized party-affiliated organizations and contact forums, with the Bagmati Province Committee under the leadership of Rajan Bhattarai forming an 11-member coordination committee.
This demonstration comes amidst ongoing street protests by the main opposition and other parties criticizing the government’s actions and policies.
Previously, on Oct 26, the CPN (Maoist Centre) held a similar assembly in Kathmandu, and the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) led by Rabi Lamichhane has also been active in anti-government protests.
