KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced that a resolution is imminent regarding delays in constructing the Narayangadh-Butwal section of the East-West Highway.

In a meeting at his Baluwatar residence with ministry officials, representatives, and members of the State Assembly from Rupandehi and Nawalparasi (both East and West of Bardaghat Susta), he warned that the contract would be terminated if work does not resume by the end of November.

PM Oli emphasized the importance of reliable contractors, urging that companies should not “hold” projects indefinitely after taking them on. He expressed frustration over the slow progress, noting that local residents have endured prolonged exposure to dust and disruption, which has also impacted economic activities.

He stated, “The urgency and commitment we expected have been lacking. Government agencies must address this issue seriously, as we are now at a stage requiring decisive action.”

Currently, 44% of the allocated budget has been disbursed, while 52% of the work is completed. Bhagawati Yadav, Chief of the District Coordination Committee for Nawalparasi (West), had also submitted a Notice to Correct to the Prime Minister.
