Donald Trump announces Marco Rubio as Secretary of State

KATHMANDU: US President-elect Donald Trump has announced that Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio will be appointed as the Secretary of State in his second presidential term.

Trump expressed that it was a great honor for him to nominate Rubio for this prestigious position.

Following the announcement, Rubio pledged to work every day to advance the foreign policy agenda of the United States in his role as Secretary of State.

Like other cabinet members, Rubio will need to be confirmed by the Senate before officially taking office. Rubio had previously run for president in the 2016 election, which Trump won in his first term.
