KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has resumed its initiative to enhance the city’s beauty through original and traditional art.
In collaboration with the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, this project continues to adorn public walls with artistic murals.
The partnership was formalized on 17th Falgun 2080 (Feb 29). In the first phase, walls in areas like Sundhara, New Baneshwor, and Exhibition Road were completed.
Currently, murals depicting football and related personalities are being created at Saraswati Park in Koteshwor.
Future murals will cover the wall at Tripureshwar Stadium, the right-side wall from Maitighar to Babarmahal, Minbhawan in Baneshwor, and the walls of the Social Welfare Council in Lainchaur.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City expects citizens to help preserve these murals by refraining from touching, painting over, or posting on them, taking photos from a respectful distance, and avoiding any markings.
The mural project is a cultural preservation and promotion effort, intended not as a one-time program but as an ongoing endeavor.
These murals showcase the essence of Kathmandu, displaying its heritage and grandeur.
They reflect the historical, cultural, artistic, linguistic, and archaeological significance of the city, as well as the lifestyle, attire, and cuisine of the Nepali people—elements every Nepali can connect with and appreciate.
