79% of drilling complete in Bhairavi petroleum exploration
The drilling will continue until a depth of 4,000 meters, after which it will be possible to determine whether petroleum products are present.
KATHMANDU: Nearly 79 percent of the drilling work for petroleum exploration has been completed in the Jaljale area of Bhairavi Rural Municipality-1, located in the district.
Ganesh Nath Tripathi, Chief of the Petroleum Project Division under the Department of Mines and Geology, confirmed that significant progress has been made, with drilling reaching up to 79 percent of its target.
The exploration, funded by a grant of Rs 2.5 billion from the Chinese government, is being carried out in collaboration with the China Geological Survey and Sibu Drilling Engineering Company.
The drilling will continue until a depth of 4,000 meters, after which it will be possible to determine whether petroleum products are present.
Additionally, Karnali State Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel visited the project site to assess the progress of the petroleum exploration efforts.
