KATHMANDU: India’s renowned cricketer Shikhar Dhawan is set to play in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), having signed with the Karnali Yaks.
The team announced this agreement on social media, revealing that a contract was signed between Dhawan and Janak Dutt Khanal, the owner of Karnali Yaks and Himalayan Builders & Engineers.
According to the contract, Dhawan will play at least four matches for the team, with the possibility of additional games depending on his schedule and the tournament’s atmosphere.
Dhawan also plans to explore Nepal’s cultural and natural beauty during his visit. His itinerary includes a pilgrimage to Pashupatinath Temple and a journey to Everest Base Camp, highlighting his interest in experiencing Nepal beyond the cricket field.
Karnali Yaks’ coach, Gyanendra Malla, sees Dhawan’s participation as a significant boost for Nepali cricket, offering local players an inspiring experience.
In addition to Dhawan, Karnali Yaks has already strengthened its lineup with three other international players: Chadwick Walton from the West Indies, Mohammad Hussain Talat from Pakistan, and Babar Hayat from Hong Kong.
