NEA Chief Ghising warns industries: Clear dues in 15 days or face power cut
At a press conference held at the Authority's office on Wednesday, Ghising stated, “If the industrial dues are not cleared, we will proceed as per the process.”
KATHMANDU: The Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Kulman Ghising, has warned that power connections of industries with outstanding dues will be disconnected again if payments are not made within the next 15 days.
At a press conference held at the Authority’s office on Wednesday, Ghising stated, “If the industrial dues are not cleared, we will proceed as per the process.”
He emphasized that it is the Authority’s duty to follow government decisions, adding, “Although we disconnected the lines according to the law, the government instructed us to reconnect them, and we complied. Now, if the dues are not paid within 15 days as per the government’s directive, we will proceed accordingly.”
The Council of Ministers, in its meeting last Sunday, instructed the Authority to reconnect power lines of industries with unpaid dues.
Following this, the NEA’s Board of Directors decided to restore power to industries with outstanding balances.
