KATHMANDU: Immediately following his re-election as President of the United States, Donald Trump established a new department in the White House with the goal of appointing Elon Musk, one of the world’s wealthiest individuals, to a significant role.
On Tuesday, through an official statement, Trump announced that both Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy would be given roles within the newly created “Department of Government Efficiency.”
This new department will focus on reducing federal spending, reforming the bureaucracy, removing unnecessary regulations, and restructuring federal agencies. According to Trump, these changes are an integral part of his “Save America” initiative. He referred to Musk and Ramaswamy as “exceptional Americans” who will play key roles in enhancing the effectiveness of the government.
However, details regarding Musk’s specific responsibilities are yet to be disclosed.
According to international media, further information about how Musk will contribute to the Trump administration is anticipated.
Analysts have noted that Musk played a major role in Trump’s historic victory, with Musk reportedly spending around $200 million in support. Even before the election, Trump praised Musk as a “super genius” and hinted that he would assign him a key role within the White House.
Ramaswamy, who initially ran as a Republican presidential candidate, withdrew his candidacy to endorse Trump, reinforcing Trump’s support base.
