KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), will continue his statement in Rupandehi today.

Following nearly five hours of questioning on Tuesday, his statement will resume at 10 a.m. at the Government Attorney’s Office.

The statement is being recorded in the presence of District Attorney Prem Raj Paudel, along with six attorneys and police officials.

After his statement concluded last night, Lamichhane was taken into custody and held in the detention cell of the District Police Office.

During Tuesday’s questioning, he denied the allegations against him, stating that the matter was known to GB Rai and that he had been implicated due to political bias.

Lamichhane was arrested on charges of embezzlement related to the Pokhara-based Surya Darshan Cooperative and is also alleged to have been involved in financial misconduct concerning the Supreme Cooperative in Butwal.

The parliamentary investigation committee reported that Rs 142.9 million from Supreme Savings and Credit Cooperative was unlawfully transferred to Gorkha Media Network.
