KATHMANDU: On the occasion of Haribodhini Ekadashi, devotees have gathered in large numbers at Budhanilkantha in Kathmandu.

Since early Tuesday morning, the temple has seen a significant influx of worshippers.

Haribodhini Ekadashi is celebrated by worshipping Lord Narayan and performing rituals, including the symbolic marriage of Tulsi and Damodar.

Special fairs and celebrations are being held today at various temples, including Budhanilkantha, Changunarayan, Bishankunarayan, Sheshnarayan, Ichangunarayan, and Pashupatinath in Kathmandu.

Devotees of Vishnu observe a Tulsi fast and perform special prayers from Harishayani Ekadashi to Haribodhini Ekadashi, spanning a period of four months.

According to Hindu belief, Lord Vishnu, who went into a deep slumber in the cosmic ocean on Ashadh Shukla Ekadashi (known as Harishayani Ekadashi), awakens on this day, which is why this Ekadashi is also called Haribodhini or Prabodhini Ekadashi.
