KATHMANDU: Gandaki State Assembly member Deepak Manange has been arrested.

He was apprehended by the police on Tuesday morning from Comfort Housing in Sitapaila, Kathmandu.

Manange had been wanted by the police after an arrest warrant was issued against him in connection with a murder attempt case.

Following the Supreme Court’s ruling on Nov 5, which found Manange guilty of the charge, the police took action to arrest him.

In 2004, Manange’s group had attacked another notorious gangster, Milan Chakre (also known as Milan Gurung), with a sword.

The Patan High Court had sentenced him to five years in prison for attempted murder, a decision upheld by the Supreme Court.
