President Paudel & Secretary-General Guterres hold brief meeting
The meeting took place aboard a plane en route from Doha, Qatar, to Baku, Azerbaijan, where the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29) is being held.
KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel and UN Secretary-General António Guterres had a brief meeting during their respective travels.
The meeting took place aboard a plane en route from Doha, Qatar, to Baku, Azerbaijan, where the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29) is being held.
During the conversation, they discussed the issues arising from climate change. “Climate change is a shared problem for all of us. To protect the Himalayas, the Earth, and the human community, we must all unite to solve this issue,” President Paudel was quoted as saying by his press advisor, Kiran Pokharel.
Secretary-General Guterres personally visited President Paudel’s seat to engage in the brief discussion.
President Paudel, leading a high-level Nepali delegation, arrived in Baku via Doha to participate in the COP 29 conference, which began today.
