KATHMANDU: Incident in Achham, a local police assistant inspector (ASI) was beaten by the community.

Mahesh Singh Dhami, the in-charge of the Rahaf-based police post in Turmakhad Municipality Ward No. 1, was assaulted by locals.

On the night of Kartik 14 (Oct 30), ASI Dhami, while on duty, traveled alone to a village about 2 kilometers away without informing any of his subordinates.

Under the influence of alcohol, he began shouting and using offensive language.

This led to the locals taking control of the situation and assaulting him.

Despite suffering injuries, ASI Dhami did not report the incident publicly.

The community expressed their discontent, citing that police officers are expected to maintain peace and security, especially during festive times, and Dhami’s unruly behavior was seen as unacceptable.

It has been reported that the District Police Office has not received any information about the assault on the officer.
