Director of Purna Bahadur Ko Sarangi calls allegations a conspiracy to harm the film
Author Shivshankar Basyal accused the film of being identical to the plot of his novel Sangrampur, leading to controversy surrounding the film.
KATHMANDU: Director Saroj Paudel of the film Purna Bahadur Ko Sarangi has denied allegations that the movie’s story is copied from a novel.
Author Shivshankar Basyal accused the film of being identical to the plot of his novel Sangrampur, leading to controversy surrounding the film.
However, Director Paudel dismissed these claims, stating that they were part of a calculated effort to cause disruption after the film’s success.
Paudel described the allegations as a marketing tactic to sell books, suggesting that it was a conspiracy aimed at harming the film.
“The record is being made, and now the campaign is beginning. But we have the support of the audience, and we are not intimidated by others,” he said.
Paudel explained that the story of Purna Bahadur ko Sarangi was inspired by the death of his father and is entirely his original creation.
“This is purely a fictional story. It is not influenced by anything else. If there is any similarity, it is purely coincidental,” he stated.
He also challenged anyone who believes the story has been plagiarized to pursue legal action.
Paudel emphasized that while some common themes may overlap in stories from the same society, the accusation of “story theft” is baseless and unnecessary.
