Leading a high-level Nepali delegation, he was bid farewell at Tribhuvan International Airport by the Vice President, Prime Minister, and other senior officials.
President Paudel will deliver an address at the “World Leaders’ Climate Action Summit” on Nov 12 as part of the high-level sessions on Nov 12 and 13.
He will also lead a separate high-level session on Nov 13 to draw global attention to Nepal’s climate-related priorities.
During COP-29, there will be a high-level meeting on “Addressing Climate-Induced Loss and Damage in Mountainous Regions,” an issue that deeply affects Nepal, one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change. The Nepali delegation plans to present the impacts of unusual weather events, including floods and landslides, in areas such as Melamchi, Mustang, Kanchanpur, Thame, and the Kathmandu Valley.
As a signatory to various climate conventions, Nepal has implemented a National Adaptation Plan to mitigate climate impacts by 2050.
The COP-29 conference began on Nov 11 and will run until Nov 22.
President Paudel is scheduled to return to Nepal on Nov 15.
