Court grants permission to hold Former Minister Adhikari in custody for 2 days (photos)

KATHMANDU: The District Court of Kathmandu has granted permission to keep Lila Ballabh Adhikari, a Member of the State Assembly from Koshi State and former Minister of Internal Affairs and Law, in custody for two days.
The court issued the order on Sunday, and the information was provided to Makalu Khabar by Nawaraj Adhikari, the spokesperson of the Kathmandu District Police Complex.
Adhikari was brought to Kathmandu today.
He was arrested by the police for investigation after being accused of forging documents and smuggling three individuals to Japan.
On Oct 30, along with Adhikari, 36-year-old Dawa Sherpa from Khotang, Janak Rai from Khotang, and 22-year-old Kanchan Devkota from Rasuwa were deported from Tokyo Airport.
The police allege that Sherpa, Rai, and Devkota had paid Rs. 1 million each to travel to Japan using forged documents.
Meanwhile, the District Police Office in Morang also confirmed his arrest.
Additionally, the Central Secretariat meeting of the CPN-UML on Saturday approved disciplinary action against Adhikari, which includes expelling him from his position as a general member of the party.
