Arrested former State Minister Adhikari being brought to Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Lilaballabh Adhikari, the outgoing Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of State 1, has been arrested by the police for allegedly creating fake documents to send three individuals to Japan.

The spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Complex, Police Superintendent Navraj Adhikari, informed that the necessary paperwork has been completed, and the authorities are preparing to bring Adhikari to Kathmandu this afternoon.
He added, “Adhikari was arrested in Biratnagar for the offense of making fake documents to send three people to Japan, and he is now being brought to Kathmandu for investigation.”
On 14th Kartik (October 30), along with Adhikari, three individuals—36-year-old Dawa Sherpa from Khotang, Janak Rai from Khotang, and 22-year-old Kanchan Devkota from Rasuwa—were deported from Tokyo’s airport. Police claim that the three individuals had paid Rs. 1 million each to travel to Japan using the forged documents.
The District Police Office in Morang has confirmed the arrests.
In a separate development, the (CPN-UML) in State 1 approved a decision on Saturday to expel Adhikari from the party, including stripping him of his basic membership.
