CPN-UML finalizes candidates for upcoming local by-elections (with list)

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML has finalized its candidates for the upcoming local by-elections scheduled for Dec 1.
The UML Central Secretariat meeting on Saturday approved the recommendations from state and district committees, solidifying the party’s candidate choices.
Election Department Chief Niraj Acharya stated, “The Secretariat meeting has finalized the candidates for local levels, and they are now ready to enter the election field.” Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali added that the Secretariat has approved the recommended candidates and directed the entire party to work together to secure their victory.
Among the UML’s approved candidates for mayoral and deputy mayoral positions are Surendra Manandhar for Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality in Kathmandu, Tulsiram Bishwas for Chair of Gramthan Rural Municipality in Morang, Uma Lungeli Magar Sherpa for Vice Chair of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality in Dolakha, Kesh Kumari Tulachan for Vice Chair of Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality in Rukum East, Sunita Bohara for Deputy Mayor of Nalgad Municipality in Jajarkot, Jana Shahi for Vice Chair of Sarkegad Rural Municipality in Humla, and Sulochana Kumari Bhandari Budha for Vice Chair of Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality in Bajura.
Additionally, the UML has finalized candidates for 34 ward chairperson positions across various municipalities.
