KATHMANDU: Around 700 Chhath puja sites have been constructed along the banks of the Bagmati River at Guhyeshwari and decorated attractively.

On the occasion of Kartik Shukla Shashti, devotees are offering arghya (sacred offerings) to the setting sun today.

Today marks the main day of the Chhath festival, which began on Kartik Shukla Chaturthi. Devotees, who have been fasting without water, will stay awake overnight at the Chhath ghats after offering arghya to the setting sun.

The festival’s rituals technically started the day after Kojagrat Purnima, on Kartik Krishna Pratipada.

On the morning of Kartik Shukla Saptami, devotees will offer arghya to the rising sun, concluding the four-day Chhath festival.

The Guhyeshwari area has seen a large influx of devotees for the celebration, with devotees lining up from Mitra Park to Guhyeshwari.

The Guhyeshwari Chhath Puja Committee has been responsible for organizing the arrangements for the Chhath puja here.
