Thailand wins toss, elects to field; Nepal to bat first
On Wednesday, Thailand won the toss and chose to field first, meaning Nepal will begin batting.
KATHMANDU: The ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers kicked off today in the UAE, with Nepal facing Thailand in the opening match.
After winning the toss, Thailand opted to field first, and Nepal will bat first in the game.
Nepal’s second match will be against Kuwait on Thursday at 11:15 AM, followed by a clash with the UAE on Saturday, also at 11:15 AM.
The tournament, which began today, will run until Nov 13. Apart from Nepal, the teams taking part in the competition include the UAE, Kuwait, and Thailand.
Each team will play two matches against every other team in a round-robin format. Nepal’s second game against Kuwait is scheduled for Nov 7.
The top team in the qualifiers will secure a spot in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in Malaysia in 2025.
The Nepali squad for the Asia Qualifiers includes captain Pooja Mahato, vice-captain Soni Pakhrein, Jyotsinka Marasini, Krishma Gurung, Savitri Dhami, Sanaa Praveen, Kusum Godar, Seema KC, Elisakumari Yadav, Manishakumari Upadhya, Riya Sharma, Sneha Mahara, Rachnakumari Chaudhary, and Trishna Bishwakarma.
