Trump leads in swing state, Harris postpones address
Richmond emphasized that the priority is to ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
KATHMANDU: U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has postponed her planned address to supporters following early election results showing her trailing behind rival Donald Trump.
Earlier, Harris had planned to speak to her supporters, but as initial results began to unfold, the decision was made to delay her speech. Cedric Richmond, co-chair of the Harris-Walz campaign, explained that the election results are still coming in, and Harris will address the public tomorrow instead.
Richmond emphasized that the priority is to ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
“Many important states have yet to finalize their results, and it is crucial that every vote is accurately counted,” he said. “Therefore, Vice President Harris has decided not to speak today.” As the race continues to unfold, the focus remains on a thorough and transparent counting of votes in key battleground states.
**Trump Leads in Key Swing States**
According to CNN projections, former President Donald Trump has gained an advantage in two critical swing states—North Carolina and Georgia. Winning these states has had a significant impact on the overall election equation.
However, Richmond has urged caution in declaring a final result, emphasizing that “vote counting is still ongoing and we are monitoring the process fairly from all sides.”
As per the latest CNN results, Trump has secured 246 electoral votes, while Vice President Kamala Harris has confirmed 210.
