KATHMANDU: In the ongoing Narayan Shrestha Memorial Wai-Wai Men’s U-19 National Cricket Tournament in Biratnagar, Madhesh and Karnali Province emerged victorious on Tuesday.
At the Melibone Jwala Cricket Ground in Biratnagar, Karnali defeated Bagmati State by 20 runs. Karnali won the toss and chose to bat, but were all out for just 75 runs in 20.5 overs. Vijay Bohora was the top scorer for Karnali with 16 runs, while Kamal Bista contributed 15 runs.
For Bagmati, Dinesh Bista was the standout performer, taking 5 wickets for just 6 runs in 3.5 overs, including 2 maiden overs.
Dayanand Mandal and Deepak Serala also impressed with 3 and 2 wickets, respectively. Chasing a target of 76 runs, Bagmati was bowled out for 55 runs in 18.3 overs.
Roshan Biskarma was the highest scorer for Bagmati with 13 runs, while Uttam Magar made 10 runs. In the second match of the day, Madhesh defeated Lumbini by 1 wicket in a thrilling encounter at the Girijaprasad Koirala Cricket Ground in Baijanathpur.
Prior to this match, Lumbini was the only unbeaten team in the tournament. Lumbini, winning the toss and opting to bat, was restricted to just 70 runs in 20 overs.
